When do you read?

I've been reading a lot lately, and I struggle with choosing the best time to read. If I read while DS is awake, I feel bad for not playing with him. If I read during nap time, I feel bad for not doing chores. If I read in the evening, I feel bad for not spending quality time with DH. LOL perhaps I have a guilt complex? Smile

Anyway - I'm just curious to what down time you prefer to use for reading? (Or other hobbies?)

Re: When do you read?

  • DH & I are both avid readers, so that helps some. We usually read a bit after putting LO to bed but before we turn out the lights on ourselves. I get about a chapter (some nights 2!) done this way. And at lunch at work when my coworker blows me off.

  • Could you listen to an audio book while doing chores?

  • I read mostly for a few minutes before bed.  I need to get better about not watching TV or being on the internet and reading more then.

  • I read during naptime and after he's in bed.  I don't feel guilty about it, as long as I get my basic chores done.  It's exhausting keeping up with him all day, and he only naps for ~1 hour, so I don't feel bad about taking that time to sit down and relax.  I would get a 1 hour lunch break from a regular job, so that is mine! :)

Sometimes I will read the entire time from when he goes to bed until I go to bed, if I'm in a good book.  I don't watch all that much TV right now, there just aren't that many shows I'm into anymore - I much prefer a good book! :)

  • I read during nap time and right before bed.  I've also started readying when I'm nursing Zachary before he goes to bed.  I have my ipod touch and have downloaded some free books.  I didn't realize how many free ones are out there.  I wouldn't feel guilty about reading during naptime though - as long as the basics are done (heck - even if they aren't done)- you deserve a break to decompress too.

  • I read at work (on my breaks, of course Smile) and right before I go to bed. Usually, I also wind up eating dinner after DH and Wesley, so I might sneak in a few pages then.
