Question about bike trailers.

From my DH who said to ask the bump:

"For people with bicycle trailors for toddlers: Do 2-5 year olds enjoy riding in these or is it just another trap like a carseat, since they can't move around? How many hours of riding is practical and how often do you stop to give them a chance to run around?"

Re: Question about bike trailers.

  • We don't use ours all that often, but my kids like it.  My son 23 months rides in it fine, usually give him snacks etc.  The thing he hates is wearing a helmet while riding in there.  My daughter 4.5 loves riding in there, though sometimes she'd rather ride her trail-a-bike.  Our last couple of rides have been 9-10 miles.  We usually do one stop about 7 miles in at a park.  They've both napped in the trailer sometimes (mostly at a younger age) so those bike rides could be longer.

Pretty much the same for us.

  • We just got one and K LOVES it. She's fallen asleep in it (I'll attach the hilarious resulting photograph) but she gets super pumped about riding and will talk to DH as he tools around. He usually follows her cues about when to stop and let her out, etc.

  • we have a croozer 737 and my kiddo loves it! he'll stay in there all day watching and waving. We load him with some books, snack, drink, and toys.

we usually stopped for a play time if he started making noise, but usually good for at least an hour before making a stop :)
