What's the deal with the invite? Does someone have to invite you to join?

Yup. I did try to do the waiting list route, but after 3 days, I couldn't handle it and then asked for an invite.

Yep, anyone on Pinterest can invite anyone else. I really don't get why you need an "invite" except maybe it minimizes spam - which I haven't seen any of..so that's good!

I've wondered about the reason for an invite as well. The spam thing is a good point. I hadn't thought of that.

I'm very visual so I am LOVING it. I got rid of my Amazon wish lists and deleted most of my internet bookmarks..this is so much easier!

I think the "invite" is to make it seem exclusive.  Lots of those deal sites used to be invite only and I think they think they're fancier than way.

oh and here's what i hate about pinterest - when people have every single pin they make show up on their FB feed!!!

Jill- it only tags it to facebook if you say yes, right?

Yes.. you can turn it on to automatically do it too I think.  So I guess it's not pinterest's "fault" that some people annoy me with their pins.

Never mind. I think I need to play around a little more.

It's by invite only to make sure it doesn't scale too quickly. Most new app start ups do it that way.  That's how twitter used to be, same with Tumblr, Flickr, etc. I believe they announced that they are going public (not NYSE public, but just open to the public) sometime this summer.

Ahhh. That makes sense. I do know they have had some trouble with the site and their iPhone app. It would make sense that if they grew even quicker it would cause some major issues.
