Food Allergy

Help me get to the bottom of this, please

DD has a severe egg allergy.  When she reacts, her first indication is that her tongue either feels hot or itchy.  She knows to tell us this so we can start treating her.  So, on three seperate occasions, we have bought her treats at McDonalds.  Once it was a yogurt parfait, once a mcflurry and once an icecream sundae.  I have checked the ingredients online...no eggs.  But, with each occasion shortly after eating the item (not even finishing it), she complained that her tongue itched.

So....what gives?  New allergy?  The equipment also processes eggs?  Thanks for your help!

  • I would contact McDonalds directly and tell them what happened and ask for them to explain.  They might have the answer.

  • It I were to guess, I would think some kind of cross contamination.  I would call McDonalds and see what's up!  Keep us posted!

    this.. exactly.

and like pp said, it sounds like a CC

I don't know if i would trust fast food places to not to be super careful.

  • I agree that is sounds like CC.  The only thing that has me questioning it is the yogurt parfait.  I am pretty sure for the most part those come already packaged to McDonalds.  Was this all from the same McDonald's or a different one?  I would call them no matter what.
  • I'm with everyone else on cross contamination- especially if you were there around/shortly after breakfast- they serve a ton of eggs.  Workers may or may not have to change gloves in between orders so it could happen pretty easily.

From personal experience I don't think McDonalds employees are trained to know about allergies.  We had three incidents and even the manager of the restaurant was clueless.  I would call the main head quarters.

    Good Luck
