I was hoping that you ladies could share some ideas of gifts to include on a diaper cake I am making. was thinking of having a theme.. its for a boy but it does not have to be a theme. Ex Jungle, whales/water. And I would like to hang some stuff off it without it looking like a big blob. Thanks!! Oh.. and the Mama to be is registered but not for a ton of stuff because this is DS #2.
Re: Diaper cake
You can intersperse rolled up onesies, wash cloths, bibs or burp cloths with the diapers to add color throughout the cake. I usually put a few in each level.
You could also get a few pacifiers with the clips and use the clips to hang the pacis.
My sister made my cake and included rolled up diapers and onsies, binky, spoons, diaper cream, and some small toys on it. MJ was a surprise so they did a neutral theme cake. Also Mj LOVES the elephant.
I recently made a diaper cake for a cousin. She was registered at Target and we were able to get some of the toys and receiving blankets and make a jungle theme. We used a lovie blanket that had a monkey head for the cake topper, blankets to circle the cake, a few teethers hanging off, diaper cream, pacifiers, and then within the cake we hid other useful things. We used a bottle brush wrapped by the extra blankets rolled for the middle core to hold it together.
Here is a side view so you can see some of the extras:
I just made one a month or so ago. I used a wipes brick and a small sample can of formula as the center and did diapers around the outside. I used both the little stuff she had registered for as well as some other small stuff (tide wipes, hand sanitizer, baby lotion, paci's, hair clips) for the decorations.
My only regret was gluing some of the stuff to the ribbon in the middle instead of doing it all as streamers, it caused some of the ribbons to sag.
