Blighted ovum

Following up on my long post yesterday, turns out the BFP I was so thrilled about is actually a blighted ovum. I've been told to stop progesterone and come back in a couple days to see if my HCG levels are going down on their own. Anyone have experience with this? Were you able to miscarry naturally or did you have to have a D&C?

Good news though (I guess) is since we only put one egg back in at ET my RE says its likely we just "picked the wrong one" and he's confident we'll get pg again with a healthy baby. I have to take a 2 month break before FET and know that is going to feel like forever.

Re: Blighted ovum

  • I am so sorry. I had a chemical and it was just like a regular period. Hugs and I hope your FET brings you your sticky one.

  • I had a similar experience with my last pregnancy.  My numbers slowly rose (not quite doubling).  I miscarried naturally at 7 weeks.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

  • I'm so sorry :(  I found out at my 8 week u/s last year that I had a BO. My betas were rising normally and I had no idea that something was wrong. I decided to have a D&C...my OB said that it could take a while before your body naturally miscarries and I just wanted to get it over with asap. I'm sorry you're going through this.

I miscarried naturally.  I am so sorry you are going through this!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.
