Dear Oh Wise Wonderful DC Mamas,
I would say that H1 is 95% pee-trained when awake during the day. The past week has been a flipping NIGHTMARE at bedtime. She SCREAAAAAAAAMS that she has to "go peepee," even though she peed right before I put her down.
It's all well and good, if we weren't in an apartment (20 days...20 days...20 days...til closing...I can do this), but I have neighbors to consider. I actually went downstairs to apologize to our downstairs neighbor last night. I could hear her screaming from outside. Thank goodness he is a young guy who doesn't go to bed early.
I've tried "bedtime rules" (she can recite them to me), charts, pee "tickets" (she gets one "ticket" after I tuck her in to go pee). I've tried the repeated silent walk back to bed. I thought maybe it had something to do with H2 taking up my time, so I gave H1 lots of cuddle time.
She rips her PJs and diaper off. She screams some more. Last night she screamed an hour past her bedtime. She was up at 530. Josh changed her, put her down and she was WIDE AWAKE five minutes later.
I didn't want advice from FB people, but if someone here is sage, bring it on. It's funny (but not really) that the nearly-three-month-old infant sleeps HELLA better than the toddler.
Upside down,
kewliegirl
Re: pottytraining and nap/bedtime. Talk me off the edge
I would let her go one more time when she asks but tell her this is LAST ONE and after that - no more bathroom trips. At this age, she could be manipulating you or she really could still be learning to read her "having to go" signals. Just be prepared to have "last one" every night for a while.
Aha! saw your FB post and now i understand.
sorry you are going through this. is she wetting at night? maybe the diapers are upsetting her and she doesn't want to wear them anymore since she is a big girl during the day (and a baby at night, in diapers, so she's behaving like one). is she is diapers or pull ups at night? can she get out of her bed by herself? does she have a nightlight and a way to see to the bathroom? you could try big girl panties at night and a liner on her bed with a full set of sheets underneath (easy clean up!). if she stays dry all night, no worries, if she wets more than two days in a row, back to diaper/pull up.
children often regress into abhorrent behaviors when a sibling joins the family. could just be her way of acting out. we are going through a phase of that at my house, too.
G/L mama! 20 days!!!
