Climbing toddler

Is there any way that I can prevent my curious little monkey from climbing everything in sight?  Ok really.  She has taken to climbing the dinning room chairs and it scares the crap out of me.  Except we don't have a dinning room.  So our table and chairs are easily accessible and there is no way to block them off.  I just caught her trying to climb her high chair.  Ugh.

This is going to sound stupid and simple, but a loud, stern "NO" generally cured Geneva of doing things like that. We reserved it for activities/things that could harm her and just hearing us usually scared her into stopping what she was doing. The trick is to use it sparingly.

When we said NO, she knew we meant business.

  • Cason is a climber. He gets on top of the coffee table, climbs in his high chair, etc. It usually works for me when I see him in the act to say "Uh-Uh" or "No sir" and then tell him to get down. The tone of voice seems to help.
