1st Trimester

Anyone else losing weight?

In the past 2 days I have lost 3 lbs. I have been eating pasta, ice cream, cereal, deli meat, cheese, everything I can stomach because everything looks so gross, and I am still losing.

I am a little overweight but not obese. With DD, I was already up about 5lbs by now, but I also used her as an excuse to eat everything under the sun.

I know this is a really typical first tri question, but it is really starting to freak me out now!

  • With my constant heaving and vomitting you'd think I'd be losing weight, but I'm not. Must be nice to be able to eat and still lose weight!

  • I'm down 6 or 7 pounds since I found out I was pregnant. I asked my doc about it at my appt yesterday and she said that it's okay not to gain in your first tri, especially if you have a little extra to start with. (I do - not obese, just 10 pounds above where I should be). She's even okay with losing as long as it's not deliberate.

In her words "At this point the baby's like a little parasite that's going to take what it needs from you regardless." Charming, but true...

  •  I lost 12 lbs over my 1st tri. Mainly because of M/S.  I still have yet to gain back over my original pre preg weight. I considered myself overweight prior as well....170 5'4.  My Dr said it was completely normal.  If it is a concern contact your Dr.

  • I have lost weight too since finding out I was pregnant. I had m/s and really bad food adversions. I feel like there is nothing I can eat! Luckily my appetite is picking up but I still am not eating as much and my food adversions are still pretty bad. I never thought I would want to gain weight. LOL

  • I went to my appt on Monday and was down 3 lbs from a month ago.   I am 11 weeks.  I eat all the time, but with m/s and food aversions, nothing sounds good and I can only eat small amounts.  I lost about 5 lbs total during 1st tri with DS and my doc was fine with it.  I gained it back plus more :)  I'm sure you are fine.... I think it happens to a lot of women!

  • I have lost 10 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I think it's from all the morning/all day sickness. With my son I lost 16 lbs in the first 20 weeks. The doctor was not concerned but told me I definately need to drink a lot of fluids so I don't get dehydrated.

  • Yeah, im the same, i lost 5 lbs and been eating anything that doesn't smell gross or gross me out by looking at it. I've felt sick but never actually thrown up or had morning sickness, just feel nauseous.

I was hoping to lose about 30 lbs before i got pregnant, and was surprised that i lost some when i got pregnant and not gained. see how the next few months go. my dr isn't worried, so im not, im kinda glad actually since ive been eating things i like.

  • I've lost 6 lbs in less than 2 weeks due to no appetite . . . and all day nausea and occasional vomiting.  I was worried about the weight loss and whether the baby would be okay because I just couldn't eat much.  But my Dr. told me not to be too concerned at this point.  To keep hydrated, keep taking my vitamins and the only time to worry is if you are continously vomiting and can't keep anything down for over a day or so that is when you need immediate medical attention.  I try to eat as healthy as possible when I do have an appetite but some days it's just so hard when NOTHING sounds good!  I'm about 10 lbs over weight for my height so I can spare a few lbs as long as I know baby is doing fine!
