Minnesota Babies

Hypnobirthing

I was just wondering if any of you ladies had gone through the hypnobabies class? I have a friend that has offered me her CDs and I could just purchase the book on-line.

The classes I believe are $400 for 6 classes. Just wondering if any of you had success either way...and/or opinions on teachers.

Thank you! Hope you all are staying cool!

Re: Hypnobirthing

  • I only took the 2hr introduction to Hypno-Birthing with Marie Mongan when I was out at the Nat'l Guild convention EONS ago (I'm a hypnotherapist but not practicing).  It's up to you which route you want to go.  There is a lot covered in the sessions that is not in the reinforcing CD's.  Things like working on things that are unique to your situation and environment.  The classes also go through a lot of potential situations that can happen during L&D (better than the class we took at the hospital!) and how to manage and make the best choice FOR YOU in that situation.  The classes also give you one on one feedback and a chance for you to ask questions/make tweeks to help you more.

As a hypnotist friend whose wife was a L&D nurse pointed out to me years ago - whether the method is medication, meditation, hypnosis, water, etc. the fundamental idea and purpose is to get the mother to relax her self such that her body's instinct can do its job.

Ultimately it's up to you to decide which you would like to do.  It's good to go through and learn as much as you can.  Arguably, you could also work with a hypnotherapist directly for hypnobirthing instead of the class (I'd recommend locally mindbodyhypnosis .com out of Plymouth).  I really wouldn't just do the CD's without the live instruction to go along with it, though it's certainly up to you.
