none. despite my attempts to get her to watch tv at least in the mornings while i get ready she isnt having it.
i did come downstairs to her watching kill bill with my mil the other day. that was fab.
Wow.
He watches Mickey mouse club house and some sesame street, but his birthday is coming up and people are asking what to get him. I don't want to give out a huge list of toys.

He doesn't really watch tv at all. He may glance at it when older brother is watching, but it does not hold his interest. My LO loves the bounce n spin zebra, FP laugh and learn home, he has the step 2 safari water table (got for his bday), he loves baby books, M&D wooden posable dino, if you don't want toys you could always do savings bonds, or clothes. My kids have a ton of clothes, so I told people not to get them clothes. I'm a clothes addict buying cray cray. I just figured if we got too many toys I could take some over to MIL's because she likes to have stuff there for them too.
We have the my baby can read cards and there is a DVD in there. Haven't tried it out yet. We do use the flash cards with her. I know....I'm a sucker, but my brother bought it for her, so we use it. She loves the flash cards!
As far as TV. She loves bubbles guppies and we use it as a calm down show before her morning nap and before bed at night. It's part of the routine. Our new nanny doesn't do TV at all, which is FINE by me!
I'm in the no tv camp. Just make a wish list on amazon or something and tell interested people to check that out.
I just want to know what videos are approiate for his age. That's all.
No videos are appropriate for a one-year-old. Babies and toddlers are just watching the flashing pictures on the screen - they're not learning anything by watching television. Several companies, including Baby Einstein and Your Baby Can Read, have had complaints filed (and substantiated) against them with the FTC (https://www.commercialfreechildhood.org/babyvideos/babyfirsttv.htm).
I would ask for small things like stacking cups, a sorting cube, blocks, play food, a soft photo album, puzzles, etc.

Yep. That's pretty much what my LO does with the sample Baby Einstein DVD we got and he loves it so go figure. I did a search on Amazon and a bunch of videos called Juno Baby and eebee's adventures came up among the most popular. You might as well try them. I don't see the harm, unless, of course you plan to sit your LO in front of the TV and go off to have your nails did. buy a pack of smokes or drop your car off at the mechanic's real quick. Otherwise, you can actually watch said videos WITH your LO (gasp!) and sing and play along like I do with mine and have fun!
You can never have too many books. DS won't watch TV. Believe me, we've tried (when he's sick or very, very tired and just won't give up!). Why give up precious cuddle time for the idiot box?

we were given some Baby Einstein and FP videos. I like the Baby Einstein one better because it's mostly music and we just have it on in the background. She'll usually glance up at it once in a while.
We showed her an Elmo video (on youtube) recently and she loves the songs. I think it's more about the songs and music than what's happening on screen.

I would request books over videos.
