I washed it last night, and it's laying out.  It looks good so far.  Thanks ladies, I really didn't want to spend another 45 bucks!

So A spilled a new bottle of bubbles all over my down comforter. I just spent 45 to have it dry cleaned and I would like to avoid that again. Does anyone wash their comforter at home?

I do, and then just line dry.

Yep, we do.  Four pets and a kid...no way could we keep up with the dry cleaning costs!  I wash on the gentle cycle and dry on low.  Never had a problem.

I haven't just because ours is huge, but I have heard to put some tennis balls with it in the dryer to keep the down from clumping up.

Yup I was about to throw ours away and decided to try and wash it and it came out great. I put a couple dryer balls in the dryer with it and just made sure it was really dry.
