Pregnant after a Loss

F/U to spotting (for anyone interested)

I had very light spotting a couple weeks ago. I went in to my doctors office and they did an U/S. Everything looked totally normal. They did an U/S the following week and then I had my regular appt today and they added an U/S *just in case* which was a good thing cause I actually had more spotting this morning (first time since the original spotting). Again everything looked totally normal. However, my doctor wants to be extra cautious and is having me have an NST (non stress test) at the hospital every week starting this week until I deliver.  Anyone have one of these?  He's also doing yet another U/S next week. I'm glad he's being so overly cautious but I feel a little silly too, like I am at my doctors ALL the time. Oh well, I guess they are taking extra care of our little guy!

Oh and BTW our LO is 3.3lbs and in the 54th percentile :) I got to see him try to suck on his fingers.. I could even see his little tongue moving around - so cute!

  • Glad your LO is okay and that they're taking it seriously and watching you. I hope it gives you peace of mind to have the extra monitoring.

I have to do the NST starting at 30/32 weeks every week until I deliver. I think it is good they are being overly cautious with you. It seems like a lot of time in the doctor's office, but I'd rather have them keep a close eye and make sure everything stays normal, ya know? I have to do it because of my blood clotting disorders.

Yeah you are definitely right about that.. better to be safe than sorry. I am sorry you have to have them done too, but they sound real easy. Best of luck to you!

  • Glad everything is okay and they are watching you. I am being monitored twice a week as well until delivery. It is crazy to go to the doctor's office so many times, but worth it for peace of mind. I had a few NSTs, which basically they just hook you up to the monitors and monitor baby's h/r, contractions, and your b/p for about 20 min. Now I just get biweekly BPPs which are just u/s to measure fluid and baby's movements.

  • I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you.  Spotting sucks.  From what I've read, it sounds like a pretty "easy" test (meaning easy on you, usually) and a good excuse to get to listen to your LO's heartbeat for a while.  Hopefully you'll just have extra visits until your LO is fully cooked and ready to make his grand entrance into the world.

  • I am glad that your doctor is taking extra precautions for you and your little baby boy.  I have seen the non-stress testing room, but I never knew what non-stress testing was.  Don't feel silly at all for being up there so much, your doctor wants to see you this often, so I am sure it's the right choice. =)

It is soooo cute that you could see him moving his tongue....now THAT is a detailed ultrasound!
