Ooops, didn't think this one through

I just accepted an opportunity to go to a day-long meeting offsite at the DoEd, completely forgetting that I need to pump at least twice between 8a-2p.  How would you go about dealing with this?  Pump in a restroom?

I rule at forgetting that I have a child when focused on work.  Momfail.

  • Just email the organizers of the meeting, explain that you're a nursing mom and ask them what accomodations can be made. Restroom pumping is a last resort.

  • Don't feel bad, I just did the same thing! I'm leading a training session solo from 9a-1p.  My plan is to pump immediately before and immediately after, hopefully that works!

  • I guess I could stretch it so that I only have to pump around lunchtime and then get my tail to the lactation room right when I return from the meeting.  I'll still ask if there is a room/location that I could use for that purpose.

  • Definitely ask if there are Is a room available, but I had to pump in a bathroom a few times for a tiny conference with no resources and as disappointed that I was that I had to do it, it was fine. They had changing stations in the stalls so I just spread my stuff out (after wiping with a wipe and covering with paper towels) over that.
  • If it's at DOE, I'm guessing they'll have a lactation room - aren't fed agencies required to provide one?
