I'm finding it hard to find activities that I can do with BOTH children. At first it was easy because my youngest didn't really do much. I'm not very creative either so that doesn't help. I tried finding some kind of tumbling class but they are just far enough apart that we can't all do it together. It also doesn't help that I'm a working mom and my husband works nights so its just the kids and I all evening M-F. I need some indoor, outdoor, at home and out of the house activities other than the normal zoo, park, back yard, reading, etc. I need something that both kids can do and have fun doing...together! There's gotta be SOMETHING!?!?! TIA.
Re: Activities w/ 3 yo & 14 mo
i have a 3yr old and a 14 month old too....and this was our morning.
today, we left the house at 8am (start early bc it gets so hott!) and headed to a lake to feed the ducks. there is a park there, so we played on the playground and did swings together. then i let them both walk along the trails for a bit. we stopped for a snack and drink and 'people watched' (they love this!)
then we headed to barnes and nobel for story time and coloring. we wandered around the books for a while, made a mess, and read aloud until the baby decided he DID need a nap and we needed to head home (after a quick jump to starbucks of course)
once home, baby woke up and i let him have some early lunch while me and the big tot played playdoh....i had elmo on in the background in case anyone got upset that they didn't have my undivided attention. then i gave baby a chunky puzzle at the table to play with while i did playdoh with the big one.
afterwards, they both had free time to play together. once the bickering started, it was upstairs and time for naps. the big one got some alone time with his trains while i put the baby to bed.
sandbox, water table, sprinkler, splash park/sprayground, visit the local 'petsmart' and look at the fish, cats, birds, guinea pigs, etc (my two LOVE this), go to a flower/garden center/lowes, etc. and talk about plants, touch them, take some seeds home and plant them (they have all natural pots for cheap to put them), soccer/balls into tunnels- roll in them, kick through them, water balloons ($1 at walmart for a ton plus the special nozzle)
