D.C. Area Babies

I know it's just a phase, but it sucks!

I'm the one home with Sprout the most.  All day Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.

But he only has eyes for daddy.  He wails whenever my husband leaves and acts like a little puppy when he comes home (rushes over to the door, climbs up his leg, etc.).  He screams "Dada!  dada!  dada!"

He says basically ever consonant other than "m" at this point and never seems to care if I come or go.  I know it's just a phase & that it's no reflection on how he feels about me, but it sucks.

blah.

  • Molly took forever to say mama.  She called everyone dada (a little embarassing in public).  Maggie also took longer to say mama.  Thing is that both of mine are mama's girls.  It was all me, all the time.  They would whine and cry for me when they heard my voice and not let go of me or let me out of their sight.  I used to have to duck down if they were in the living room with DH and I wanted to cook or get anything else done - I was hiding in my own house from my own children.  BUT they would call me dada, really?

I think the m's are just harder to say - he'll get there soon :-)

  • Even at only 5 months, DS is enthralled by his daddy and puts up with me for food. I'm sure he'll prefer me at some point, but right now I have to be satisfied with the smiles I get (while DH gets belly laughs).

  • at 6 months DS started say dada but maybe not knowing exactly what it meant so we kept repeating mama and pointing at me... NOW... all he says is mama ALL.THE.TIME.  its breaking DH's heart!
