Toddler room?

What do you have in your toddlers room?  Lucas is only 15 months but we are moving into our new house and trying to set up his room.  Right now he has a crib, and a dresser and I want to make a little reading corner.

Do you have toys in your toddlers room?  I want his room to be for sleeping and not really playing as we will have most of his toys in other parts of the house, but his room seems so empty.

I guess eventually we could put a desk in there but he is too young for that now.

Any suggestions?  Helpful hints?

  • Brendan is 26 months, but in his big boy room we have this.  He only has a couple coloring books and some of the those magic markers that don't color on things except the special color books. He also has some trains.  Oh yeah he has a couple books.

  • We kept Noah's room pretty basic for now.  He has his bed and a tall dresser.  Then he has his rocking horse.  We have a cube system from Target that is in his closet (walk-in) and that has some toys and books.  Then there's a few bigger toys under his bed.  So far it hasn't been a problem.  The toys are just there to keep our family room a little more organized, so it's not like he plays during the day in his room.  I think that helps.  He associates his bedroom with sleep, not play.

  • Just a twin bed, night stand, and dresser. DS does have a rug with a city/roads on it...he can take cars to his room during the day and play, but toys don't stay in his room.

  • DD had a bookcase, toybox, dressers, glider, and crib in her room at 15 mo.  Toybox held her millions of stuffed animals, I don't know how/why she has so many but its pretty funny to look in her room and see the mounds of them and then her sister-to-be only has the cat in the hat my DD put in there because she had 2.

I let DD explore her bookcase when I'd put away her clothes or get her bath ready, was her favorite thing to take books off the shelf.
