I miss my once-a-night wakeup schedule

From 2 months to 4 months, LO would wake up once a night. Usually between 3 and 4, and then he'd go back to sleep (even if I couldn't). But his first stretch of sleep was always 5-7 hours long. It was heaven.

Starting at 4 months on the dot, he regressed to twice a night wakeups, and for the past few nights, he's been doing 3 times a night. I think it's a growth spurt or a developmental leap because he's also been acting like he's starving and it looks and feels like he's grown (it's weird when you think baby looks bigger in the morning than they did the night before).Last night he went to bed at about 8 and woke up at 11:30, 2:45 and 5:30. Then up for the day at 6:30.

Anyway, I'm not looking for a solution, as I am coping and I know we'll sleep train eventually, but I am definitely looking forward to my next 5-hour stretch of sleep.

  • 5 hours of sleep (all at once) sounds so dreamy! i haven't had that much sleep since december 09. :(

  • I think I could have written this exact post 5 or 6 months ago. It sucks. After sleep-training, Baby Handy is still on a once-a-night wakeup althought it's been getting later and later recently. Last night it was at 4:30AM.

  • Yeppers - we're in the same place.  I think it's a combination of a growth spurt and all of the new things they are learning.  DS can't wait to explore every little thing that is near him.  Life is way too exciting for sleep sometimes.
  • Could be a combo of 4 mo wakeful and growth spurt. H started sleeping like crap during the day around that time and would occassionally wake up during the night which she never did after about a month old. Are you still feeding during the night? J is at the age where you could do sleep training if it doesn't get better.

It's a true statement that once you start to get into a routine, they change things up. :)
