XP: Do you use powder?

Just curious who all uses baby powder? My mom suggested it, and it seems to really help keep her dry and from getting rashes (we've only had 1 so far, and it was just the other day).  I worry about her inhaling it, but my mom and DH don't seem to be.  Just wanted to get some more opinions.  (I plan on asking the pedi at her 4 mo appt.but that's not for another week and a half)

I've heard not to use baby powder so I haven't used it.  I believe it has to do with them breathing it in.

I've used it once... just to see if I thought it helped keep him dry.  I didn't see any big changes so I stopped using it.  I know they say that you're not supposed to use it because of inhalation, etc. but I'm pretty sure that if you are using it properly there will be no clouds of dust hovering over your LO.  Not to mention that my mom used baby powder on me as a child and I turned out ok.

Our ped reccomended it to help keep her neck dry so we do use it occationally but not on her bottom. I put it on my fingers away from her face and then rub it in her neck. I would use it on her bottom, but I don't think it works as well as butt paste or desitin.

No. I haven't had the need to use it, but wouldn't if I did. I heard a little vaseline everyday prevents diaper rash.

I hate this response. There are babies who didn't turn out okay and that's why they made new regulations.

That's not directed at you, but at that comment in general.

Nope- never.  It's not recommended b/c it can get into their lungs, etc- crazy ironic as it's called BABY POWDER.  On the other hand, a friend of mine (who's a NICU nurse) used cornstarch powder on both of her babies and swears by it.

I use it once in a while, sometimes at night since he STTN and doesn't get a diaper change for hours and hours.
