What order to do teeth come in?

Both of my girls have gotten their two bottom teeth (middle), and their four front top teeth.  I can tell that they are both teething, but can't tell what's coming next.

Re: What order to do teeth come in?

  • It's typically the outer 2 on the bottom and/or 1 year molars.

DS has the top 4, 3 on the bottom and his 4th molar is coming in.  DD got her bottom 2 followed by one of the outer teeth on the top, then the center 2.  She's got 2 on the bottom, 3 on the top, and 2 of her molars have cut.

Probably the next two on either side of the bottom two.

Mine have all 8 of those (4 top and 4 bottom) and actually, Graham is now cutting his top two canines (or whatever those are called).  I expected the molars to be next...so who knows?!

  • If you go to baby center and type in baby teeth in the search area it will show you a detail map of a childs mouth and the order the teeth (normally) come in. You can also print this out for each kid and write the month/date these teeth came in and keep it in their baby books.

Also I think I read on there that most kids lose their teeth in the order they came in, which I didn't know. Kind of interesting. That is why all 6 year olds are walking around missing their front teeth first.

My girls got their upper and lower front 4 first then the next four surrounding them. After that the first molars came in at around 13-14 months. They got their eye teeth (sometimes called canines) at around 18 months. And the one got her second molars in around 23 months and the other twin didn't get those in until almost 2 1/2 years old.

This is so funny! Ditto PPs, mine got their bottom 2 then their top 4. They just cut a third on the bottom (DSs on left, DDs on right - bizarre!) and are working on their 4th bottom ones as well.

  • Thanks ladies, it seems like they should be coming in on the bottom, but no signs when I look at their gums yet though Huh?

I'll have to check their molars when they're a bit more amicable.  For some reason I thought this would be last, but it makes sense that they'd at least get some in earlier.
