Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What did you used to roll your eyes at?

Which expression did you used to roll your eyes at that you now understand?

For me, it was, "You don't understand until you have a child."

I would always roll my eyes like, "Yeah, whatever. They think they're better than me and know more than me."

Now I get it.

  • "College is the best years of your life!"

I used to think "wow, i seriously hope not. i have so much work to do all the time and I'm always stressed out."

Compared to the sleepless nights and stress I have now, college was a cake walk. AND I could do whatever i wanted, whenever I wanted.

  • I rolled my eyes at my mom once when i was a teenager and got slapped.  I didn't do that any more.

  • Lots of things. I've always been a terrible eye roller. A lot of times I do it without even realizing it....I need to make sure I can it before Abigail starts to copy me.

As far as something specifically I would roll my eyes at I always would when people talked about how it was harder to do things with a baby or to get away when you have a baby. I thought, "Just plan things in advance or be more organized". Yeah...apparently I didn't realize what all went into having a baby.

  • I didn't understand why people got so emotional about breastfeeding. I remember thinking, "Jeez its easy, put the kid to the bewb and just sit there. So much easier than formula."

    Yea, whatever.

  • I never understood the emotional connection with breastfeeding. I knew I was sad about not being able to breastfeeding my daughter but I didn't realize how emotional I'd be this time. With the biting issues this week, I've heard from everyone to wean him. I refuse. I'm not ready. I want to make it to a year at least. I refuse to give up, I just hope he quits biting soon.

  • I never understood why people would say that their doctors absolutely refused to listen to them when something was wrong and thought if you tell them enough they have to listen to you. Well I learned better when I was pregnant with DD that doctors can be self-centered and have no regard for the patients' well-being and health. It took me getting to the point of kidney failure due to pre-e and DD having fetal hydrops that I truly realized how unprofessional some "medical professionals" can really be.

People would always talk about the intense love they have for their kids. You definitely can't understand that kind of love until you have a child of your own.

    Yes me too.

I also thought the people who were like "You'll never remember what life was like before the baby" was akin to cult followers and that I'd really be miserable/wanting my old life. No, I'm definitively in the "kids are so amazing" club.

I agree with this. I never thought BFing was for me. Then A went on a nursing strike at 4 1/2 months and I nearly had an emotional breakdown.

I always heard "get the baby on a schedule" and thought it sounded so rigid and awful.  Yeah, I'm a total schedule nazi now.  Of course I didn't think I'd be having twins either, so that was a game changer.
