Hey ladies! I feel like this is a newbie question but I've never had this problem before. I am doing PIO shots every night and delestrogen shots every 3rd night in preparation for my ET on Sunday. I've been on the delestrogen shots for a week and haven't had any problems. But since starting the PIO on Tuesday, I have been having excruciating pain at the injection site. DH has been giving me the shots like he did in the past. I have a very high tolerance for pain and this pain is making me jump. I know the injection sites can be tender and lumpy, but my PIO injection sites are bright red, lumpy hard and excruciatingly painful. They aren't itchy so I don't think it's an allergic reaction. I've tried a heating pad before and afterwards the past few nights and it hasn't helped. It hurts to sit down and to even walk. I see RE tomorrow so I'll mention it. DH says I have to show RE my bottom because he thinks it looks awful.
Any advice or experience you've had would be greatly appreciated!
Re: PIO help
Hey girl - I never really had this problem that you are having, but one thing I did after PIO shots was take the heel of my hand and kind of rub in the PIO for a minute or two after the injection site - it made me think that I was kind of spreading it around somehow. I also did my shots up on my hip more because I was injecting them myself. I am sorry you are having this problem.
You should definitely show Dr. F when you go in tomorrow. Speaking of, I just saw your post below and WOW - I am just so excited that you had such a great fert report! Good luck with everything tomorrow, and please keep me posted on your transfer. If you need to be distracted during your upcoming 2ww and wanna get together, please let me know - maybe we can get beadinglady to join us!
I had a lot more pain this time around than I did last time too. But my pain was more muscular than around the site itself. Do you ice before?
I usually ice for about half an hour prior to the shot. After the shot, I lie on my side with my weight on the opposite hip while Mh massages the injection site for a few min. Then we apply the heating pad for about 20min. Since we've been following this routine, I've had hardly any pain whatsoever!
GL and I hope you feel better!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

I don't believe that God ever tells us "no". he has three options. Yes, not right now, or I have something better in mind. We just have to wait & see.
My RE switched me from the PIO injections to Endometrin suppositories because my pain after the injections was so bad, I could barely walk. Seriously, like deep, horrible horrible muscle pain whenever I stood, walked, sat down, got up, All. The. Time. We tried deep tissue massage after the injection (which hurt like h*ll!) but the pain from the shot would still start about 6 hours later and last for 2 days! Since these were daily shots, the pain never went away. I would just say if you are really uncomfortable, talk to your doctor, they might switch you.
