Success after IF

Man, I hope this is weaning hormones!!

I just feel so annoyed with DS as he throws a fit during diaper changes and at bedtime! It is so new to me, so far I had taken it all in stride, but the last week or so, I have no sympathy and just want him to suck it up! Sigh :( I really really hope that this is due to all but weaning (I stopped pumping and nurse upon waking and before bed, but I pretty much have zero milk left)... Side question.... Should I just give him bottles? I'm nervous that he's not getting enough milk :(

Re: Man, I hope this is weaning hormones!!

  • I must be weaning too then.  Cause I have zero patience these days when every single diaper change = alligator wrestling (and I don't even sah!)

How much is he drinking these days.

THis! I almost lost my sh&t this evening when J put on a full on temper tantrum when it was Jammie time. Full on flailing, screaming, all over the place, and he is SO Strong. He is crurrently wearing a onsie and sweat pants to bed cause I couldn't get any of his one piece pj's on. I need to go buy some more 2 piece sets.

Can I also blame my crankyness on my raging pregnancy hormones?!

  • Weaning is AWFUL.  It was the worst (emotional) time of my life.  Hang in there...it gets better.

    I honestly wouldn't give him bottles...if he'll drink from a sippy, I'd go with it.  He won't starve ;-)

  • Ahh, you girls are making me feel better!! Think that we are programmed to be patient for only so long?! And allissa, pg hormones are a great reason!!!
  • Ohh, and I also have asked everybody (other moms, J's music teacher who is an early childhood specialist) and they all tell me it's a phase and it will/should stop at some point. I am just wondering when?!Sad

. He only has 8-10 ounces at daycare... And I honestly don't think he can be getting more than 2-3 ounces max at the two nursing sessions... He eats a ton though and drinks a lot of water..

This isn't horrible... My boys don't nearly eat as much real food as Jones.  As far as non formula goes, they get 4oz of yogurt, 4oz of purees, 4oz of real food plus a few handfuls of puffs, cheerios etc.  that's IT.

They drink around 20oz of formula a day.  At dc, they'll only drink 10-15oz.  But they love a HUGE bottle before bedtime.  Harry routinely eats 12 ozes (yes, more formula than he has all day).  So if Jones is eating a lot more, I wouldn't stress too much about his low formula/bf intake.

Ugh - so not pregnant here.  I wish I had something to blame it on.

  • I think it would be fine to give him bottles - he still seems like a little guy to me and I'm a big "majority of nutrition is to come from breast milk or formula for the first year" person.  I am also a big "who cares if they drink out of a bottle here and there past one year old" person, so there's that.
    Wheee!

  • Oh and I wanted to add that it seems like Jones and Jake are eating the same amt of formula/BM. He usually gets 4 bottles a day (today he had 5 cause he was up at 530 amd wanted to eat) at 7oncs or so. He also eat 3 full meals and 2 snacks! He would eat all day If I let him.. So it seems ok. Have you done wcm yet?

I think it's hormones, but the thrashing is annoying! ;) Will doesn't fully thrash but bedtime has always been a struggle. I hope he grows out of it at some point, or it's going to be really embarrassing for him when he gets married!

  • i'm sorry. =(  don't be hard on yourself, it's tough to be patient in those situations!

if it were me i would at least supplement with bottles after each feeding at the breast in case he's still hungry.

I'm more than a day late, but ITA with this...on both points.

I so don't look forward to the diaper change wrestling matches again... As it is, we have to chase/argue with DS1 about changes.
