Am I crazy to try to postpone my IVF by a week or so??

So, I have had a he11 of a time getting this IVF off the ground.  Total mess between my RE and Insurance but I am finally approved and on day 4 of BCP.  When my last cycle got cancelled I did some quick math in my head and was worried my ER/ET would coincide with the GTG but then never really thought more of it.  Well, it took my 6 weeks to get my period (since they had suppressed me before cancelling my cycle) so I just got my protocal in the mail and they are estimating my ER to be on July 2....the day of my family reunion in NY (I live in VA).  My plan was to go up to NY for the week so G could have some fun with the cousins and we'd do some fun city stuff (baseball game, American Girl-- you know the important stuff ; )

Well even if they are off by a couple of days (which I'm sure they will be) on my ER, I would be right the in the middle of monitoring hell so I wouldn't even be able to go for an overnight, I don't think. 

So, I am thinking of asking my nurse if I can "hold" on BCPs for a week and start the cycle a week later.  They do it to patients all the time if we don't fit into their schedule, would it be crazy for me to do this?? Specifically, is there any potential impact on my likelihood of getting a BFP because I was on BCP for 28 days instead of 21??

I know a lot of clinics do this anyways to keeps patients to the same cycle so I doubt that it would impact the outcome. However, if you think you'd question the outcome based on your decision then I say keep the cycle as is and don't go on the trip.

We had to extend ours a week because DH was going to be away when he would have made his "contribution."

Listen...you need to do what is best for you and your family.  I think taking G to NY for this reunion and other fun will be just what you need to take your mind off of things.  I would DEFINITELY ask to get postponed another week.

I don't think being on BCP's an extra week would change the outcome.

I don't think it would be a problem.

We pushed mine back a MONTH (they had me bleed a cycle though, because they don't like you do be on BCPs for more than 6 weeks) and then at the last minute I had to change my start date from a Friday to a Monday because I found out my job was ending and couldn't start on my last day at work. So they kept me on BCPS another few days.

My clinic only started meds on Fri, Mon or Tues.

I would ask about pushing back 10 days or so, that way you won't be in the throes of meds and monitoring and can enjoy the reunion. I think it is a reasonable reason to push back the start (unless they close down for cleaning/vacation later in July). Finger and toes crossed for this cycle!!!!!
