What's the deal with it?
Due to my clotting disorders I was given the options of this or Mirena. We decided to go with this for now due, in part, to my being told that Mirena could cause spotting for the first 7-9 months. I hate spotting.
I started it Sunday even though I hadn't had a pp period yet (per my MFM). I got the impression, although I realize now that I didn't specifically ask, that since you take the same pills for all 28 days that you don't actually have a period each month -?
Anyway, yesterday I had some light spotting, which I thought was weird but just assumed it was my body getting used to it. Today it's much heavier and bright red! If this (or really any spotting) keeps up, there will be nothing to protect against, if you know what I mean ![]()
Anyone know what's going on or had a similar experience? Can anyone tell me what to expect moving forward?
Re: Anyone here on the progesterone-only "mini pill"?
I looked into the mini pill but decided to go with Mirena. The mini pill has to be taken the SAME time everyday...not around the same time. I think if you are a couple of hours off the literature tells you to use a back-up method of birth control. And you could still ovulate on it, but your mucous is different making it harder for sperm to reach any egg that you might ovulate.
Here is a link about the spotting thing:

Could spot up to 8 days it says?
You should still get AF with the mini pill even though there are no sugar pills.
