Do they make breathable fleece?

Apparently I am ig'nant about fleece and fleece related topics.  I love how cozy fleece PJs are, but whenever I put Mikayla in one she starts sweating, especially her hands and feet.  I just looked at the tag and it says 100% polyester - is all fleece made from polyester??  My kid needs warm PJs that don't make her sweat like a little piglet!  Does such a thing exist??

Re: Do they make breathable fleece?

  • Cotton fleece does exist but it is a lot harder to find ad usually twice the price. Organic places are going to be more likely to carry it.

    Like here...about halfway down.

I don't know what temperature you keep your home at night but we can usually get by with a good quality cotton footed PJ with an undershirt.

Another option could be a sleep sack. You can get fleece but because it doesn't hug the body as much it might breath better, or get a lighter weight one so she can wear it over her regular PJs.

  • What about a thick cotton footed jammy + onesie?  The Children's Place has nice cotton zipper footed jammies.
  • This year I found some great cotton thermal jammies at Target.  They have one-piece union suits (not footed) for smaller sizes, and two piece ones for toddlers.  They are the Circo brand - I found them on an end cap in the baby section.  I find them to be a good in-between when fleece is too warm.  Plus they are like $6 each!
  • I agree that you might want to try the sleep sacks, we had ones from a consignment store that had sleeves.  I would put him in a onsie and cotton footed jammies then the sleep sack.  When spring came around I cut off the sleeves, so he wouldn't get hot.
