Day care/nanny options in basking ridge

Hi all -

I'm looking for some recommendations about day care or nannies in the basking ridge area. I've heard good things about the Blue Kangaroo but would like other info on in-home day cares and possibly nanny costs in the area. any insight would be greatly appreciated - my little one will be 4.5 months when she starts.

thanks!

  • I'm in the same boat.  How far along are you? I'm just now 15 weeks. I drive by the Blue Kangaroo almost every day. I haven't been inside for a tour or anything yet. My baby will be 3 months when they start..

  • hi peaches -

my LO was born March 27, so she's almost 11 weeks. She'll be 4 1/2 months when she starts. I went on the NJ Dept of Family Services page and found a couple other options in Warren and Ivy Leaf Academy which I think is in the Hills. Haven't had any luck finding anyone who does in home day care yet.

I had called blue kangaroo before she was born and confirmed that they didn't have a wait list, they said we could come in whenever we wanted, so I will check them out. they have some good part time options and also have saturday evening care for any child enrolled so the possibility of date nights is also appealing.

  • The Children's Corner in the Liberty Corner Church is nice too.  I worked there when I was in high school so they've been around a good long time.  They have a low turn over there & they walk across the parking lot to the lower school to pick up kids for after care.  My mom is on some committee involved with them & knows the teachers etc.  They are going to start taking infants within the next couple of months (I think), but I don't know anything about their rates.

We have friends who's 2 LOs are at the Kangaroo & while they love it I know that they are super expensive & some of the things they did confused me...  Why make an infant do a project for mom & dad?  Seriously -- the teacher put it together & put the kid's name on it.  It was a 6 mo old.  To me that was just ridiculous.  I'd rather have art projects once the kids can help with them.  Even if him "helping" is just trying to eat the glue.

My mom lives in BR & works in a pre-pre-k program called Little Lambs (not related to TCC) there so I can see if she recommends anyone else.  :o)

  • Hi- I too am looking for the same thing. I live in Bedminster in the Hills.   The Children's Corner, Blue Kangaroo and Sunshine Preschool are places I am considering. My LO will be about 7 months when she starts. I got a few recs for some in home care places in BR if you want to contact them. I think a daycare facility is a better fit for us. Let me know.
