Success after IF

Success with acu to induce?

I'm officially overdue and really want to avoid a medical induction if at all possible.  I made an appointment for acu tomorrow.  Did any of you have success with acu to get things started?  I figure, I started off my cycle with acu during IVF, what more fitting an end could there be?  :)

  • I didn't but I have a friend who did and it worked.  When is your OB suggesting medical induction?  Do you have a comfort level you're not willing to go past?  I ask because the majority of first time moms don't go until after 40 weeks and being post-dates isn't really a medical issue until you're closer to 42 weeks all things being equal.  Acu may help but time will probably help too ;)  Hang in there!

They are ok with me going to 42 weeks.  They will schedule anytime between 41 and 42 weeks.  I was fully expecting to be overdue and I'm ok with that.  I just don't want to push too close to 42 and not have enough time for natural methods to work so I figured I'd get the ball rolling.

Awesome -- acu sounds great and if I do this again I'm definitely going to do it when I get close to the end.  I went on my own at 40w6d with an induction looming at 41w2d...those last few days with the induction on the books were stressful.  Glad your OB is giving you time to get these natural methods working.  You'll have to report back!

I assume you're also doing EPO and red raspberry leaf tea?  The other option is nipple stimulation if you've already got a pump.  And I've heard that stripping your membranes is helpful if you're already starting to dilate.  GL!

Yep, 1500mg EPO and RRL tea every day.  I don't have a pump but MH is all about trying nipple stim (go figure :)  We are going on nightly walks as well.

I'm even thinking of resorting to the famous eggplant parm recipe!

I'll definitely let you know if anything works!

  • Not acu but I had GREAT success at my chiropractor.  I went in before I went up to the hospital to be induced and once at the hospital they put in some cervidil and BOOM went into labor in 30 mins and didn't even need pitocin.  It was awesome!  GL to you sweetie

Thanks!  I guess it's probably too late to look for a chiro now, eh?  I've never been to one :(

  • I was going to say, take a prenatal yoga class. I swear that's what put me into labor so early.

I have also heard that pregnancy message and chrio works. I remember many of the ladies in my class sware by these to induce labor. Good Luck!

  • No, definitely not too late for a chiro.  Ask your acu if they have someone they recommend.  Adding in chiro will also help with positioning which will help your labor along.

  • Wishing you lots of luck! I went into labor on my own at 41w exactly, the night I upped my vaginal dose of EPO. I am thinking about chiro this time throughout the 3rd tri because Eliza was out of position and I had a loooooooong labor.

    Good luck!

I did EPO and the eggplant Parm. It was yummy... But alas, I'm a failure. I went for acu at 230pm and my water broke at 645pm. I say go for it.
