I'm not personally offended as someone of Irish descent (It takes a lot more than that to offend me, personally) - but I mean, if the term were like...Mexican Twins or AA Twins don't you think it would be NOT ok to use that term? Consider the reference it is making and I dunno - I just would never use that term. Just wondering why it seems to be ok on TB?
Re: How is the term "Irish Twins" not considered inflammatory?
I don't think it's inflammatory b/c it's used w/ every ethnicity, not just for people of Irish decent (sp?). True it started out as an "Irish" thing but now-a-days it's not limited to that.
Some do still find it inflammatory and have voiced their opinion on it, but the general census is that it's just a cute term for kids born really close together.
That being said I am Irish-Portuguese and am having irish twins so I might be slightly biased lol.

I dunno. I have a lot of friends from Ireland (as in right off the boat) and they use the term as well. I'm of Irish descent as well...
I think it has come to mean something different than the original offensive term it meant. I think it has more just come to mean kids born really closely together.
Ding ding ding!
It's seriously not that big of a deal, in my (of irish decent) opinion.
Agree
This! I'm Irish and having Irish twins and I have no issues with it (see my siggy?) that being said, maybe some people do, but I find that everyone who finds out I am pregnant again says "Oooh Irish Twins?!?" and I proudly say "yep!"
