HC and I have had a verrrrry different set of opinions on whether it's time for her to go to bed or not the past 4-5 nights, and I'm getting worn out with the process! She still consistently takes a 1-2 hour nap at school and home, and we have to get her up between 6:30-6:45 to get ready to go in the mornings. She's been going down around 8:15-8:30 but lately it's like she gets a third wind and pitches fit after fit for me to go in there, get her something, etc. Then 45-60 min later she's out. And I'm exhausted! So....are we putting her down too early? I know it varies, but what's your basic sleep schedule for your 3-year-old? TIA!
Re: When is bedtime for your 3-year-old?
Finn, who is almost 4, goes to bed at 7:30 and he comes out of his room when Mr Sun comes up at 7am, though I know he is awake almost every morning before 7am. A year ago he was going to bed at 7pm. Bedtime has gotten harder for us in this last year and so we had to institute a reward chart for him that seems to be helping.
oh and Finn is napping only about 50% of the days, he does quiet time everyday for two hours while riley (and if we can, Kellen and momma!) naps, and about 50% of the time he ends up falling asleep. I don't ever let him sleep past 3 though no matter what time he fell asleep. everyone is up at 3.
Almost exactly the same for my Finn, who was 3 in February - we go upstairs at 7, he is in his room with lights off by 7:30, and he is usually asleep immediately. He stopped napping around 2.5 so he doesn't sleep through the day. His sun comes up at 7:10, but I know he is up sometimes before that, he just stays in his bed and sings or talks. This week he has slept in past 7:30 twice, which was heaven.
Ridge, who just turned 4, goes to bed at 8:30. We start the process of bath, reading books, prayers, cleaning room, etc at 7:45.
He is usually up at 6:15 and doesn't take a nap. Both of my boys take after DH who doesn't need a lot of sleep. I on the other hand function best with 8-hours.
John just turned four and goes to bed around 8 or 830 IF he naps. he is in bed but could be up talking and playing quietly for another half hour to a hour. Around 3 he stopped napping consistently. If he doesnt nap he is in bed at 7p and passes out. I'd say this has been our schedule since he was 3 also
Geneva's bedtime begins at 7 and she's usually in the bed by 7:30. She's awake to start the day between 6 & 6:30. On the weekends, she'll mostly let us sleep at least until 7.
I have found it to be absolutely true with us that the later we put her to bed, the earlier she gets up. If we're good about getting her to sleep by 7:30, she'll sleep even later in the mornings. She also takes a 1.5-2 hour nap at school.
