Tracking Calories and EBF

I am using the iPhone app "Lose It" to track my calories and I really like the program, super easy to use. I entered all my stuff and it gives me 1300 calories a day to try and lose 2 pounds a week. Problem is there is no way I stick to that I just ate lunch and only have 80 calories for the day left.

I know lots of sites say 500 calories a day extra for breast feeding but that just sounds like so much to me. What would you do, try and stick to the 1300? Add in the extra 500? Any suggestions, what has worked for you?

Re: Tracking Calories and EBF

  • Wow good to know, thanks. I think this week I am just going to eat what I eat and not worry or think about but still track it. Then I will have a good understanding of what my baseline is and kinda go from there.

Did you have a c-section? Any trouble running again? I am almost 5 months out and it still hurts - driving me crazy!!!  Really bad, deep achy pelvic pain and then almost like crampy feeling the next day. When is your next marathon? I miss it so much.

  • Good for you that is great. I had a visit yesterday and she said everything looked fine I guess I just have to get used to taking it really slow-I was slow to begin with! I was thinking maybe long beach in nov but might just do the half.
  • I use this app also and it has worked wonders for me, I used it before and after my dd was born.  If you add excerise into your program then you will be able to eat more calories, my program starts me with 1300 however when I add in my daily Tae Bo  dvd that I do, or my run, then it increase my calories for the day up to 2000.

I would also suggest that you change your goal to lossing 1 pound per week rather than 2, it will increase you calories and give you a more realistic program to follow.

I helped me loose 20 pounds before dd and take of the last 10 after!

    Good luck
