Amoxicillin while TTC

I am curious as to what opinions you ladies have heard in regards to taking amoxicillin while ttc? I went to dr today due to a sinis infection and this is what she prescribed. She said it was safe while ttc and/or pg but it makes me nervous. i would rather not take at all but I ave been feeling so yucky that i have to do something. i just hope it does not ruin our chances this month.

I don't know what the side effects are but i have 2 friends who got KU while on BC while taking antibiotics as it counteracts BC. So i'd say you're probably ok...

My Dr. told me any of the antibiotics ending in "cillin" or "mycin" are safe to take while pregnant.  She said the ones to stay away from are the ones ending in "cycline."  Hope you feel better!

This.  Last time I had a sinus infection, I asked the CVS pharmacist about any possible drug interactions, and he said none.  I said "really, not even BC?"   And he said "nope".  So I told him I know 3 people who have gotten pregnant that way, 2 of whom were sisters (both during their senior years of high school, you'd think the younger one would've learned).  He said "Really?!"  That's why I don't take my prescriptions to CVS anymore. 

Long story short, antibiotics will not affect your ability to get KU.

Haha i knew twins who were so stupid they were afriad of BC cuz they thought it would make them fat...once the first one got knocked up you'd think that woulda scared the 2nd one...nope...pregnant herself within a few months! LOL

I hope you don't mind me responding.  I got a bad sinus infection right before O & ended up on amoxicillin as well.  That was the cycle I got pregnant, so I definately think you're fine.  I'm not sure if your doctor warned you, but amoxicillin is supposed to be one of the worst for causing yeast infections.  I got a bad one after my run on this antibiotic.

I am on Amoxicillin right now because of a tear gland infection that is quite nasty. My doctor said it was fine for TTC and breastfeeding so I think you are ok

This. And I'm pretty sure an infection isn't good for ttc so I'd go ahead and start poppin' those pills!

This! Your doctor went to undergrad, med school, residency, and fellowship to be qualified to treat your medical conditions! Dr. Google is just some guy who got his diploma online.

I don't think your MD would give you something that is going to harm TTC and/or "phantom" baby at this point.  I also agree with everyone else, -cillins are safe,  just not -cyclines.  They can harm a babys developing teeth.  Or so I was told by a nurse practitioner.
