Dear postpartum sweatglands,
Why is it that every time I wake in the middle of the night to feed DD that I'm drenched in sweat? I know this is supposedly "normal" but it feels weird to have sweat literally dripping off my face and it's gross that my t-shirt is wet in the morning. You can go back to normal anytime.
Dear postpartum appetite,
We are not feeding the Redskins team during training camp. I'm just one woman who happens to be breastfeeding. It's not appropriate for me to mow through a whole bag of potato chips, eat a while casserole, or eat a half-gallon of ice cream on my own. I'm supposed to be losing weight, not gaining weight at this point.
Dear postpartum discharge,
It feels like 3 of the 4 people in my house are in diapers (DD#1, DD#2 and myself). It's been over two weeks so let's finish up with the discharge so I can stop wearing these yucky pads.
P.S. However, it's all worth it though when I get to see this everyday (I had to AW a few photos).
Re: Dear postpartum symptoms.... (and a few PIP)
she's just beautiful!
don't worry, you are actually supposed to eat an extra 500 calories a day when BFing, vs 200-300 when pregnant
Wow! She looks so much like DD#1 in that first photo! So cute!
And yeah, in the first few weeks after C was born all I wanted to do all day long was eat carbs.
oh, she's beautiful!
I hope your symptoms slow down soon Hang in there!
so cute!
the night sweats were the worst! seriously, I did not realize I could sweat that bad while being perfectly still. I hope it goes away for you soon!
Your daughter (and your photography skills) are just beautiful!!
And here's to moving past the postpartum stage soon!!! Those pads are the worst!!
I hear ya! Ugg...I HATED the night sweats. They were so much worse with DS2 than DS1. They finally tapered off at about the 3 week mark. Hope they go away soon for you!
I got so freakin' tired of wearing pads. I even started getting a bit chafed from wearing either a pad or a liner as things got lighter. Since I had a c section, I have been wearing super sexy granny panties and I decided to ditch the pads at the 4 week mark. Couldn't take it anymore and I figured it didn't matter if ruined some of my oh so chic granny panties.
Your LO is a cutie!! Hang in there...it gets better! (That's me telling myself that too!).
Sweatglands: Isn't it awesome to wake up and look like you ran a marathon in your sleep? I don't remember it lasting too long for me, so hopefully the end is in sight for you.
Appetite: Thanks to BFing, I had an appetite that wouldn't quit. It usually included a full-on meal (exactly what you're not supposed to do) just before going to bed so I wouldn't get hungry during the multiple nighttime feedings. If you can alternate something healthy (fruit, yogurt, whatever) with the bag of chips, I say enjoy it while you can with no guilt!
Discharge: It lasted SO much longer with DS than with DD - to the point I was placing multiple calls to the L&D nurse line and was getting concerned. Maybe it's a second-childbirth thing? Hope you can get out of the pads soon!
I hope you're feeling back to "normal" (whatever that can mean after having two kids!) soon. After all the physical discomfort and strange "side effects" of nine months of pregnancy, you'd think Mother Nature would've cut us a break during the postpartum stage. At leaslt you have that sweet little face to stare at while you shovel in some spoonfuls of ice cream
I hear you on the appetite - 5 months in and I still can eat all my food for the day at work by 2pm.
She's so cute!!
I read all of the posts and I'm glad to hear I'm in good company . All in all, it's totally worth it for these minor inconveniences but I thought I would complain just a little bit. I think my night sweats ended by week 4 with DD#1 so hopefully the same will happen this time and the discharge is slowing down so I hope it ends soon.
Also, thanks for the compliments on my baby girl. She is such a sweetheart. I was really worried about going back to the newborn stage since I was enjoying toddlerhood with DD#1 but DD#2 she totally melts my heart and I'm now remembering what I love about the newborn stage.
That's exactly what I was going to say! She's beautiful!
Yep, this exactly!! You make some beautiful babies!
I hear you on the sweating - and the weather isn't helping, although today was gorgeous. Nothing like chasing a wild toddler at the playground while trying to keep a newborn latched onto your sweaty boob. Ugh.
