Question Re: prepping my DIY fitteds...

I made 12 fitteds to go along with my prefolds for the newborn stage. My question is- how should I prep them?

The fitteds are made from cotton jersey outer, fleece or flannel inner, & terrycloth sewn in soaker pads. All of the fabric was prewashed & dryed prior to when I sewed the diapes.

Any thoughts? I was thinking of prepping them similiar to my prefolds but I didn't know if boiling them would be overkill.

I would just stick them on the bum.  They will be absorbant immediately and get more absorbant with each wash.

Don't boil them.  You could ruin the elastic.

Just put on baby's bum, they are ready to go.

I would prep the flannel inner ones, at a minimum. I've made cloth wipes out of flannel, and they are not very absorbent for the first few washings. Not a huge deal for wipes, but you could have some repelling issues with diapers.

To prep, just wash them on hot a couple of times. If you have no baby yet, throw them in with whites, sheets, or any other clothes that you normally wash on hot.
