Two Under 2

Irish Twins

Hi ladies! I posted this on 3-6 and they directed me over here. DS is 3 months old and last night I got a BFP! I am honestly shocked, I didn't think it would happen so soon. Now I'm just sitting here imagining what life will be like with 2 babies under 1 year old. I'm hoping that some of you will have words of wisdom for me, but mostly I just needed to talk to someone. :/ TIA.

Re: Irish Twins

  • Congrats! I dont have irish twins, but since this board can be slow during the day I wanted to give you a few encouraging words. My kids are 18 months apart and they are wonderful playmats. Life with two kids is busy, hard and tiring BUT its wonderful. You are giving your son a life long playmate!

There are many girls on here with kids 12-13 months apart, so you should get some more words of advice and welcome.

Welcome to the board and congrats again!

  • The same thing happened to me...mine are 11 months and 3 weeks apart. Write everything down that your DS does so you can refer to it for the new baby.

When #2 arrives you will feel like an experienced mom. It is crazy but fun, and whenever it gets rough, I just remind myself that the worst day with my babies is still better than the best day without them.

    GL!

  • Sorry it bumped me off.  lol  I would definitely write everything down.  The good thing is you don't need to get new things.  When ds1 outgrew his clothes i packed and labeled them to find them easier.  I saved the extra diapers he outgrew.  Most of all get all the rest you can now.

  • Congratulations!  I know how shocking it is at first.  My girls are a year and 2 days apart.  There are some big positives to having them so close in age.  For starters, you're still in baby mode so it isn't a crazy transition.  You're already used to changing diapers, feeding, etc.  It's just an extra little body to incorporate.  I also found that my older DD never once experienced jealousy or issues with getting a sibling because she was so young.  At this point, I don't think she has any recollection of life before sissy came along.  They are already 2 peas in a pod and I feel like I gave them the best gift possible...each other!  I'm an only child and would love to have a sister (or a brother for that matter).

Another thing to keep in mind is that you are still dealing with a little baby.  You have many months to get ready for a new baby and you will be so surprised by how much your little one grows and changes by then.

It will all work out great!!

How funny, my DS's name is Finn as well! Thanks to everyone for the advice. I guess I haven't thought about the fact that Finn won't be a tiny little boy when #2 comes along. This is going to be an exciting year!

  • Mine are 12 months and 18 days apart.  I was floored (and, if I'm honest, really upset) when I got the BFP for DD2.  But now I am so, so thankful that things worked out the way they did.  They are 7.5 months and 20 months now, and I love having them so close in age.  So much so, that every day I think about getting pg again.  We are TTA at the moment because I think it would be A LOT to handle, but I still find myself thinking about it.  I love how they play together and I know they will be so close growing up.  It's really a blessing.

Congrats! I can't really offer any advice since #2 isn't here yet, but mine will be 12 months and two weeks apart...so almost Irish Twins!
  • My kids are 12.5 months apart and I LOVE it. I love it so much that I got knocked up again and will have 3 kids under 2.5 when my newest one is born :)

Honestly, it is the best thing ever. My boys are almost 2 and almost 1 and already are so close and love each other. It is way easier than I thought it would be!
