Food Allergy

Rash Question

My daughter has multiple food allergies/intolerances. Her reactions are different and range from mild hives/facial swelling to GI reactions. She is 16 mos.

Yesterday, we introduced nectarine in the morning. After nap, we went outside to play. When we came back inside I noticed a rash on the inside of both thighs. I have no idea if this is a heat rash, irritation from the wet grass, or a reaction to nectarine. Is it possible for a food rash to only show up in one area of the skin? She was sitting on her knees (isn't walking yet), but no rash at all on her calves. Although the rash has gotten better, it is still there today and is raised red bumps with white centers - probably 40-50 spots total. Any ideas? So confusing!!

 TIA!

Re: Rash Question

  • IMO it sounds like a heat rash.  especially if she was outside in the heat.

But if i was you i would avoid nectarine for a while and see if it goes away, just to be on a safe side.  With the heat in full force our kidos are going to suffer big with their skin.. especially b/c their skin is so super sensitive.

Also, when my son reacts to something he gets it under his arm pits.  in that one single spot..

Sounds like a heat rash. I was told that if it was a reaction to food, the rash would affect more areas of the body.

  • Thanks, girls! We try to keep the amount of variables at a minimum b/c of how many reactions she has had, but lately there have been too many! Thank you for your help.
