TMI -- first time running today...leaking pee/boobs out of control

I am 3 weeks PP and ran on the treadmill for the first time tonight.  At around 20 mins felt like I really couldn't hold it anymore and that I might pee, so I stopped and ran to the bathroom -- Terrible.  Also, I felt so heavy and slow and my boobs are huge.  I can't wear my old workout tanks and I definitely need a new sports bra....sucks....

  • I am 3 weeks tomorrow, and have stopped bleeding, and thought I might try a run/walk.  Now I am thinking I should wait!

     Hang in there!

Did your doctor clear you for exercise?

This.  I ran pre-pregnancy and I still wasn't cleared until 6 weeks.  Even then, I was told to start slow.  I would say if you were uncomfortable, then you should probably try walking first.  I started walking on the treadmill with DS in a Bjorn at 3 weeks but didn't start running until 7 weeks.

  • This happened with me.  Even after doctor approved my workouts.  With DD I started working out after doctor released me and there were occasions I had leaking pee.  I wore a pad to run/workout.  It took a while to get my incontinence in control.  And I only had the problem working out.  Not day to day activities.  I think it just took a bit longer to get those muscles back in shape after being stretched in delivery.

With DS, I started running at 3 weeks PP, I still wore pads just in case of incontinence.  It takes a little bit, but those muscles will come back, be patient, keep on doing kegals.

And FYI, I also pump or nurse right before I workout to lessen boob size.

    Good luck!

Same here, it only happens during running, other day to day activities are fine.  I know the standard is 6 weeks to work out, but I am going with how my body feels and my body is telling me it is ok to do some light exercise since I have always worked out on a regular basis up until I delivered.  Great idea about pumping before working out!! I will do that next time along with find a really good sports bra!

If you feel ok, I would go for it, but listen to your body.  I went really slow and after 1 mile of running very slowly I just walked at an incline so I wouldn't over do it.  I also usually lift weights and do circuits after my cardio but I just stretched and went home.  I felt really good afterwards, and it was really nice to get out of the house for an hour and have some me time.  My boobs don't hurt, it is just more embarassing to have them flopping around and people staring.

It took me longer than 6 weeks to get the bladder under control.  I think maybe a few months.  And with baby #2, even after a year when I did intense speed drills I sometimes had the urge to go to the bathroom.

    This.

I had baby #2 and it took almost 6 months for me not to pee while running.

It also took a long time for me not to "pee my pants" while running. I usually wore a poise pad. This went away eventually, but then it returned recently too, even 9 months PP. I think it is worse when you run outside vs a treadmill. I think it will just continue randomly. Things are just not the same down there!

I also pumped or BF'd before running so boobs were "deflated" and not horribly painful as they bounced along. I wore 2 sports bras too.
