advice needed re: LO getting out of bed

We're still in cribs at our house, but this morning and now 4 times tonight the boys have both climbed out of their cribs - gaving even just said "I want a big boy bed". So it looks like it might be time.

I need advice; how do I transition a 2 1/2 year old to a big bed. how do you keep them in their bed when they can get out and not go play?

I am so not ready for this. I am used to them talking themselves to sleep but knew they were contained... not anymore. ugh!

We moved Ben at just over 2.5 and it was no big deal. He was so excited fir his new bed and we talked about it for a bit leading up to it and he jut stayed in bed. We did en up buying the OK to Wake clock eventually to keep him from getting up early and it's been really helpful with naps. He has of course gone through phases where he just has to tell us one last thing. Or he needs something. Or whatever nonsense he could think of before falling asleep. But when that got bad we made a sticker chart and he got a sticker in the morning if there was no monkey business the night before. That seemed to break the cycle for him. Good luck! They might surprise you.

I know people keep saying its no big deal, but I'm dreading this transition! As it is my girls stay up talking, jumping, singing and playing together for over an hour. I can't imagine if they weren't locked in their cribs.....

I responded to your FB but...we moved to a toddler bed last month and it's been great. He occasionally gets up in the middle of the night asking for milk but he just comes to find me, and I get him a small cup and take him back to bed. The pool floaty under the mattress has kept him from rolling out no problem. But yeah, I'd pack up their cribs now and throw the mattresses on the floor until you move. Maybe gate the doorway at night?

I'm dreading this transition too. Our boys do the same thing, most nights they talk, sing, laugh and jump for a while before going to sleep. I have no idea what it will be like when they get into real beds. EEK! Good luck H, can't wait to hear how it goes.
