s/o LOs and Heat

The first really hot day here, we went to go shopping and realized that Charlie's car seat (which we've been keeping in the car and carrying him back and forth) was SUPER hot. Too hot for him to sit in.

How are you keeping LOs car seat cool? Are you keeping it in the house? Parking in the shade? Covering it with someone?

We're not quite sure what will help keep it cool enough for him to sit in. We park in a lot that is in the sun all day. [:/]

Yes, we hired a butler whose only job is to lay over R's car seat while we are out and about

Honestly, though, I am probably going to get a white sheet and lay it over the top of his car seat (we switched to a convertible so I can't take it out with us) once it gets hotter and hope it reflects most of the heat/sun away. That and I really want to get my windows tinted since it looks like I am going to be in my car for quite a while.

Maybe I'll try the sheet thing. I really hate carrying the seat back and forth. He's not heavy, but with the seat its too much!

We're still in the bucket, so where she goes the seat goes.  I like the sheet idea.

She gets so hot while in the seat though.  I have the A/C turned up full blast, windows open but she still gets so hot in there.

i have a poopbox of a car so my ac doesnt work. its gettin pretty hot lately, but luckily we never drive more than 5 minutes in my car. i bring the car seat in the house so at least that doesnt get hot.

I hear you! Before we switched to his convertible seat, it was getting pretty difficult to carry R in his infant seat.

What about trying one of those sun shade things that they make for covering car windsheilds? That might work. I start the car a few minutes early to get the AC going just like I do to heat it up in the winter but if you are in a lot Vs a driveway that might not work.

. We live in Az and no amount of shade or anything makes much difference in the hot summer. So we will throw this in the freezer and then when we are in the store, swim class, etc we put it on the seat to keep it cool while we are inside and then when we drive it goes in the cooler or on the floor and baby gets buckeled into a cool seat. BUT I bet you could probably do a makeshift one since you are pretty crafty OSC. it is just ice packs like for lunchboxes ina fabric covering that has pockets for the icepacks. just a thought...

We still use the infant seat and bring it into the house or into daycare.  We also use a snap n'go stroller frame so it comes with us for errands too.  We live in Texas, though, so we start the car up early and blow the air to cool it off.  We also use a sunshade, but that's needed so that we don't burn our hands when touching the steering wheel.

That is so freaking cool!! I bet I could figure out how to make something like that. :-)
