I just got a call from my Dr office and my early glucose test came back high at 169. I don't know what normal range is so I have no idea just HOW high that is. I have to go in for a 3 hour test on Friday at 8:30. I am really starting to feel like someone has it out for me!
Re: REALLY?! Why can't SOMETHING be easy?
That's high. Most places cut off at 130 or 140 max.
Sorry!!!!!
I'm hoping to have the same luck! Would you mind sharing what the diet looks like? I am all for eating better I just honestly don't know what I should be eating to help with GD. I had a fear that this would happen since they had me stop taking my Metformin at 12 weeks.
Awwww! That stinks!
With Henry mine was in the 160's also (so I failed, I think the cutoff was 130? 140?)
Anyway, I did the 3 hour test but passed it. They told me it happens all the time.
Just make sure you eat a balanced diet the day before, drink lots of water and fast for the amount of time they tell you before hand so you don't accidentally go in wit a high fasting #.
It will be ok! And even if you do fail the 3 hour, you mostly likely can manage the problem with some dietary changes.
Good luck, let us know how it goes!!

Boo:( I failed my glucose test last time and had to take the 3 hr test. I passed the 3 hr and i am shocked because my diet is not great.
Although its not fun, I hope you do well and pass with flying colors! I am preparing myself for it this time around too.

Of course. Basically I can only eat whole wheat carbs. If I eat a carb I have to eat a protein with it. They said I can still eat fruit but only like 1/2 of a banana or orange or a 1/2 cup of berries. I do splurge once in a while. The hardest thing for me was finding snacks to eat. I eat a lot of cheese, cottage cheese, carrots, celery, humus, and some sugar free pudding. I do eat peanut butter too b/c the sugar in that is so low compared to the protein in it!
No wonder I failed! I have been eating raspberries like they are going out of style. That and my peach rings I bought last week. Apparently they don't count as just fruit. I will modify my diet a bit this week and see if that does the trick. If so I will continue on with that the rest of the pregnancy.
Thanks ladies, as always!
I had GD with Katherine but not with Sam.
The diet is really just what you should be eating anyway (no fun). Veggies, lean meats, fruits. Very few processed carbs or refined sugars. I tested my blood sugar 4 times a day (wake up and then one hour after each meal). I bought the low carb breads and ice creams for treats. It was PITA, for sure, but very doable.
