Babies on the Brain

I think my fingernail is going to fall off.

I smashed it moving rocks around in the yard this morning. There is a blood blister on the side of the nail bed and I can tell it goes part way onto the nail but I don't really want to take off my nail polish to find out how bad it really is. I mean, it's not like I can do anything about it, right?

It hurts like a biotch though.

Re: I think my fingernail is going to fall off.

  • OUCH!  Hopefully your nail doesn't fall off that would suck.
  • Ouch!  I think smashed fingers are one of the more painful things out there.  I don't think there is anything you can do to keep from losing the nail, but if there's a ton of pressure, you can actually (and this might be completely gag worthy) drill a hole into your nail using a sterilized needle to relieve it a little.

I'd remove the nail polish to see how bad it is, but I'm also a little bit of a bruise poker.

  • ouchie! When I smashed my finger in the car door, the nail turned purple right away and I guess it was a blood blister. I just happened to have a dr. appt the next day with my pcp and he just relieved some pressure from it but it felt so much better.

It really doesn't hurt, but it sounds terrifying.
