This year, in my home town, I have seen at least 3 or 4 baby girls named Blakely. Until this year, I had never heard of this name. It doesn't look or sound very feminine to me, but I guess it's not the worst I've seen. So is this a local thing or is this name on the rise? (I live in the south)

I've never heard this name and I'm glad. It sounds like a mispronunciation of "Blankly" as in "The stupid boy stared blankly at the screen."

I know a few Blakelys (one is a dog, the rest are girls). I'm in the South, too. It is the name of a town in Georgia, and I think the popularity of it is fueled by the rise of actress Blake Lively and the -ly trend.

Im in the south too and I grew up with a girl named Blakely....im 25, so I guess she was a little ahead of the trend. I dont think its horrible, but its NMS.

Yuck. Blake is OK- even for a girl, but Blakely? That is awful, IMO.

Isn't that Ryan & Trista's baby's name?  (Bachelorette Trista.)  Or maybe that's Blakesley.

I think it's trending toward popular everywhere. I've definitely heard/seen it around, though it might be more popular in some areas than others.

I'm in CA and I know someone who is pregnant and planning on naming the baby Blakely if it is a girl. I hope she has a boy.

I actually think this name is pretty cute, but I prefer it for a boy. I knew a girl named this, and I'd never heard it before. When I met her, I told my husband her name, and he said he'd never met a girl named that before, but he's known a few guys named that.
