How do I keep my bathing suit top from floating up?!?

I got a new maternity bathing suit from Target. I was really excited for the find. I'm not in love with the extra pudge I have, plus my 2nd cesarean left me really lopsided at the belly and there is an annoying "shelf"/ line down there that I am very self conscoius of.  My sister lend me her 2 piece that hugged the belly but it just exaggerated these problem areas. I found this top that's a bit like a shirt, flowy over the problem areas.

I hopped in the pool at the hotel this weekend and the top kept floating up on me! I know it will be different when my belly fills it out, but it's meant to be flowy, not fitted.

Anyone commiserate, have a solution or think I just got the wrong size?

  • The maternity bathing suit is awful! When I had my 2nd son I was pregnant in summer and had him in July. Well, by that time I filled that sucker in just fine. Not the case right now. I think it's unavoidable.

  • If I was in the water, I would tuck the side into my bottoms just a bit.  No one will notice in the water and it doesn't take much to keep the whole top down.

I had this problem with mine and I tucked the sides of it into the bottoms a couple of inches since it was long.
  • I am having the same problem. I have an above ground pool and we have a privacy fence so I put on a bikini. Even though no one could see me, I felt like a beached whale and I also have the mammas apron from the c-section.  So I bought a maternity bathing suit to hide my belly. Well, I jumped in the pool yesterday and the top kept floating up for me too. I think its b/c I am showing a lil but I'm not at that full blown preggy bump yet. For me, the top covers the bottom piece so it is longer than most typical bathing suits.

Great.. I hadn't thought about this happening. I just bought 2 tankini swim suits for our Miami trip in a few weeks... I guess I have to reconsider now because I hate the look of traditional 1 piece suits.. :(

  • Thanks for the advice about tucking it in. Great idea. I was just hopping around with the kids, but I wanted to look decent when getting in and out of the pool, so it is a good solution.

Ugh to that stupid cesarean tummy mess!
