How lame is it to do a s/o of your own post, LOL?
So, anyone have summer plans now that the kids are out of school (or almost out of school, as the case may be for some)?
Each year the kids and I make a list of things we want to do (or just goals) over the summer. We hang it on the fridge and cross things off the list one at a time. We just started our list last night:
Expand the garden
Camping at a state park
Go to the drive-in movies
Swim lessons
Boys' gymnastics camp
Make donuts from scratch
Do fun, messy science experiments
Go berry picking
Get hooked up w/the local homeschooling community by participating in some of their various events
Lots of time at the pool with friends!
Have a big garage sale and use the proceeds to do something fun and frivilous as a family
Paint and redecorate dd's bedroom
Go birdwatching
Hatch a preying mantis
Place various birdhouses and feeders around the yard to attract more birds
Re: s/o: Summer plans.
We're settling on our new house on Wednesday. OMG. And we still have to pack since I've only managed to get four boxes packed so far. Gah.
So we'll spend a lot of time this summer getting settled in. DS1 is a really good artist and loves mixing colors, so we're letting him mix up some possibilities for their playroom wall color. We'll all vote and then get that color matched at the store. We're also excitedly planning the landscaping at our new house. A loves, loves, loves flowers.
I love the garage sale with proceeds going to something fun that you're doing. I might have to steal that.

Wow, that's a lot on your plate. How will you decide where to relocate? Back to your hometowns? Closer to family...?
stop pumping (ok so that is just for me;)
visit family several states away
DD will take swim lessons
DS will go in pool for first time
get stuff done around the house
just chill!
We are moving back to my hometown for now. We never had any intentions to go back to Nebraska but since it was so sudden we figured it was the best...or he did at least lol. If it was up to me we would be headed to Colorado. I still have some family there and we both like the area. I still have to finish school so hopefully it will be easier around family since it will be a tough 2 years. I hope shortly after I am done with school we will move somewhere else. I do NOT want to be stuck in Nebraska forever. I don't like the summers or the winters there. With the Army we have only lived in Germany and Washington, neither are an option for us. It will be kind of nice being around the little bit of family we have though, mostly for the kids. I just hope it isn't still going to be all drama like before.
DD has 3 non-consecutive weeks of daycamp at the local rec center.
We have 3 trips: Sister's wedding in CA, Family cabin in MT, and DH's family/friends in New England.
DD has t-ball for 6 weeks (couple practices a week and a few games).
We will also go on a few weekend camping trips.
And school starts 8/15.
Whew!
I love the idea of a list! So far we have swimming lessons and summer school (5 week prep for Kinde that the school provides for $7).
We are renting a cabin for a few nights. Might plan a day or overnight trip to Chicago. Might go visit some friends in the twin cities.
Spend lots of time at the pool, maybe do a little hiking, biking, gardening and bird watching.
I also want to take the girls hiking and swimming to one of my favorite state parks nearby that I haven't been to in a few years.
Swimming lessons start in one week.
Father's Day trip to St Louis for a family reunion
4th of July trip to go to my home town and Seaside, FL
Go see Cars 2
Start running (me) C25k
Hang out with friends at the Splash park on Tues and the weekends
Kids will continue daycare : (
Continue job hunting (4th interview is a charm?)
Work my @ss off, we have a girl going on maternity leave
School starts 8/22- DD's birthday
plan DD's birthday
I also like the idea of a list for "little" things
First, having a c-section tomorrow morning. Then trying to adjust to life with three babies 4 and under.
DS #1 starts preschool 2x per week next week.
Go to the zoo.
Take the kiddos to the beach at least 1x (it's too far and difficult with a newborn to go more often)
Work on lesson plans for my sub (I'm not returning to teach until October)
Possibly Potty train DD.
Play a lot in the backyard and kiddie pool
Take the kiddos to the "fountains" at their favorite park.
Next summer will be awesome since we won't have a newborn.
Good luck!
