Oscar/Oskar.....

....SO and I are trying to come up with a boys name. He really likes Oscar (his grandpa's middle name)...but I cannot help but think he is going to get picked on because of Oscar the Grouch.

Thoughts?

    Oscar.

    I don't think he will necessarily get picked on. Some people may associate the names together, some will not. It is as legit a name as any other though.

    I love Oscar as well... it was on our list for awhile! It's a classic and strong name IMO

    ...and so what if people make the sesame street reference, it's a great show:) Kids will find ways to tease ANY name and it's nearly impossible to find a name that doesn't have some sort of famous reference.

    I don't think that he'll get teased because of Oscar the Grouch because Sesame Street just isn't as popular as when we were kids. Now there are a billion more cartoons that draw kids' attention. I say go for it. I love this name. :)

    Its a great, classic and strong man's name.  Go for it!  I don't associate it with Sesame Street either.

    I like Oscar.

    There are tons of connotations for all names, and whether people first think of Oscar the Grouch, Oscar Mayer wieners, or the Oscars, who cares.

    Once they meet your LO they'll only think of him when they see him or hear his name!

    I love Oscar/Oskar. I think of Oskar Schindler first. It's in my top five names for boys right now.

    Thanks ladies!! We are still up in the air about whether to use the "c" or "k" (both have special meaning to us)....but I am not agreeing to put it in the top of the list and get over the whole Oscar the Grouch thing!
