Is it safe to get pregnant while on Lexapro?

I know I should be asking my doctor but with the holiday weekend i'll have to wait till she comes back on Wednesday.       So just wondering if anybody knows the answer to this.  I"m on meds and we want to have another baby but not sure if I would need to wean off it before we started to try.  I got on the meds when my baby was 7 months old and that has been several months now.

I believe it is one of the meds they will use in pregnancy, just like Zoloft. I know I could use it while breastfeeding. Most meds that are ok for breastfeeding are the same as the ones used in pregnancy. I could be totally wrong, but I think this is what my Dr. and I discussed while I was on it. Just like anything, there are risks though.

I decided to wean off prior to trying for #2. I had been on for almost a year at that point. At my first appointment with my second pregnancy (I recently had a m/c) they ask if I was still on the Lexapro. They didn't seem overly concerned if I was. I had already gone off so we didn't discuss it further. GL

I took Lexapro during my pregnancy. My doctor said it was safe & safer to take the drug than to risk going through an episode of depression during the pregnancy. Good luck!
