My head feels like it is gonna EXPLODE!

Literally... I feel like I can't move without my head POUNDING... is this a common symptom, or should I chalk this up to the bizarre weather we have been having?? Whatever it is, I sure hope a good nights sleep fixes it, otherwise work is gonna be brutal tomorrow! Any other suggestions to get rid of a headache?? Im allergic to ASA and don't find tylenol overly effective, so normally i try to battle through, but this sucks!

  • Drink a can of Coke! Caffeine works wonders for me when I don't feel good.

  • I agree on the caffeine idea.  I suffer from migraines but also get headaches due to neck and shoulder tightness.

    If it is the side(s) or top of head-  ice helps!

    If it is your neck that is hurting but causing a back of the head pain, I use a heating pad on the back of my neck.  But, ice helps too.

    Ask your loved one to massage your neck.

    Check your pillow position.

    Go to bed...no lights, no noise.

    Good luck!

  • Oh, yes...and WATER!  Lots of water.  My doctor kept saying, "Drink water!" when I called about my migraines.  We do dehydrate much more easily while pregnant.

    I get awful headaches triggered by the weather too-when we have a drastic pressure change (like t-storms or even just a lot of clouds) my head feels like it will literally explode.  Before I was pregnant Excedrine was my best friend-now, I have a can of Pepsi or put myself to bed early.  Really the latter helps the best.

  • Neti Pot...= amazing ... I had the same thing today
  • I feel the same way!  Only, I know mine is allergies.  My head feels like it is going to explode and I am sneezing all the time.  Unfortunately I cannot find any allergy medicine that is safe during pregnancy.  I have tried a heating pack, ice, sleep, and saline solutions but it only helps a little bit for a very short period of time.  I am going to try caffeine like someone suggested.  Hopefully we get feeling better soon!

  • Alot of my headaches were allergies and nothing helped me except a can of coke...I know alot of people frown on the caffiene thing but it seriously helped me ALOT and I don't think a can or two every few days will hurt anything =) Im anxiously awaiting my hubby now with this "miracle" cure...pesky headaches -.-;;

  • Me too!  Mine is partly from car accidents and my neck gets stiff and I end up with a headache.  I'm sure the pregnancy isn't helping.  My Dr. says I'm only allowed to take Tylenol.  Tylenol doesn't usually even touch these kinds of headaches for me, but I've noticed since I'm pregnant, it does ease it up a bit.  I tried to get some at the store yesterday and apparently, there was a recall on Tylenol???  They had none and didn't know when they would have it.  This is horrible.  I don't think I can go another day with this headache!  Indifferent
