Two Under 2

2 rocker/gliders?

If your LO's each have their own room did you get two rockers? Originally I thought we would move DS's rocker into the nursery but we still use DS's it in his room (for storytime, cuddling before bed, changing his clothes, if he's sick in the middle of the night, etc.) so I think I need to get a second one. What did everyone else do? Is it one of those things I *need* or could I do without one for this LO? Looking for input!

Re: 2 rocker/gliders?

  • We were able to borrow a glider from DH's brother and SIL.  If we wouldn't have been able to do that, we would have bought an inexpensive one off of Craigslist.

  • I never ever used a rocker glider for either kid because I never rocked either to sleep. So for me, I don't need it.

  • We got a 2nd one for the toddler's room at a garage sale and recovered it to match his room.  (moved the good glider to the new nursery since that's where I'd be logging so much butt time nursing in the middle of the night.)

We didn't use the one in the toddler's room much but like you said - it's come in handy for when he was sick or for reading stories at bed time.

They're 3 and almost 5 now and both still have gliders in their rooms that get used pretty much every night for story time.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Yep we still gliders in both rooms for the boys. For DS1, we use it every night for storytime/snuggling. For DS2, we use it for bedtime bottle and a few other bottles sometimes, too. We definitely use both everyday, so for us, it was a must for both rooms.

  • We have 2 gliders.  I still read books to DD before bedtime, and I can't imagine giving that up anytime soon.  I've spent many nights in both gliders, so it was money well spent on both!!

  • I was really considering getting a 2nd off Craigs list, but I went to Ikea this weekend and bought the Ektorp Jenna-something chair. It doesn't rock but it's pretty comfy and was cheap and works awesome for bedtime stories (DS and I weren't fitting in the glider very well anymore with my belly in the way). Plus I feel better having it in there since he loved climbing on the glider and this has no moving parts.

My babes will be sharing a room.. but we wouldn't if they were separate.
We'd probably just read to DC1 on his/her bed :)
