your gas stove: brand/model (stainless steel preferred).  This is my first time purchasing a stove, our house came with one and it needs to be replaced.  What are the bells and whistles that I must have and others I can live without.  Txs in advance.

I don't know what the brand is, but my mom has a pretty cool one right now.  It has gas burners but it also has a griddle that comes off for easy cleaning.  She didn't ever think that she needed it but says she uses it way more than she expected.  For grilled cheese, pancakes, french toast, all sorts of stuff.  Now, what I don't like about it is that it has a double oven set up.  Good in theory but the lower one is basically on the floor and it is impossible to get stuff in and out w/o getting burned!  So I would say to skip that feature.  It's similar to this one:

Txs Slw your post was really helpful.    I did look at the double oven gas stove and you were right.  That lower oven is just too low. 

I ended up getting a gas stainless steel Kenmore.  It has four burners and an additinal fifth burner can have a griddle placed on top of it.  It has a warming draw on the bottom and can be transformed into a convection oven at the press of a bottom.  It is also self cleaning.  I can't wait for it to be delivered.
