Nipples!?

My nipples are still sore and tender. If I get the chills, they get hard and it hurts! Sometimes they just perk up for no reason whatsoever.

Is it too soon to use nipple cream? I'm seriously considering, they're dry and my tea tree lotion isn't helping.

Re: Nipples!?

  • Oh I'm certainly in the same boat as you on all counts!! I use coconut oil, both on my belly and my boobs and it seems to help. If you've never used it, it is usually sold in co-ops, health food stores, etc and is solid at room temp. It smells super yummy (if you like coconut, anyway) and absorbs into your skin surprisingly fast. My MIL gave me some when my skin started to get all pregnancy itchy and I've been hooked ever since!

  • Lansinoh lanolin cream!!!!  purple tube, you can find it at BRU and Target and it works wonders.  it is really thick though so put it on at night after you shower and then wear a bra or tshirt you don't care about.

  • This sounds ridiculous, but if you're anywhere near a farm supply or tractor supply store, stop by and pick up a container of Udder Butter.  It's WAY cheaper than lanolin products marketed as nipple creams and it's the same thing.  You can also buy pure lanolin at any pharmacy, but it doesn't smell so good and it's a little thick.

  • Target sells an Udder cream too - I am not sure what it is called but it is in the lotion aisle and in a container that has cow print on it. I haven't tried though but I heard it works great.

  • IMO, its a no go on the Lanolin. It's too thick, and if your nipples are as sensitive as mine, trying to rub that stuff in will be a pain.  Plus since it is so thick, it can cause fabric to stick to it. NOT COOL. Go with an oil or a cream, something that can absorb quickly without "heavy petting"! Cocoa butter isn't a bad idea.

  • I have used some cream. Mine have been really itchy.Tongue Tied
  • I have been using A&D ointment. My nipples were sore and itchy...almost chafed. So I started using that at night before changing into my sleeping bra and it has worked wonders!! Even most of the soreness is gone now.
